Residential Redevelopment and Energy Efficiency Upgrade
The project involved the comprehensive redevelopment—both functional and thermal—of a residential building originally constructed in the 1960s. The design successfully transformed the existing structure by optimizing the relationship between the building envelope and its systems, drastically reducing energy loss without altering the roof structure (which was subject to preservation restrictions).

To maximize energy savings and ensure optimal indoor comfort, a controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV) system was installed on the ground floor, paired with a rainwater harvesting system that supplies the sanitary facilities and garden irrigation points.
Great attention was paid to managing solar exposure: the glazed areas are equipped with a movable shading system. The new exterior fixtures, featuring wood-aluminum frames, were specifically selected to eliminate the need for both routine and major maintenance over time.
The old diesel-fired heating system was completely removed and replaced with a modern condensing natural gas boiler.
This unit works in perfect synergy with a vacuum-tube solar thermal system and a 500-liter storage tank, capable of meeting the entire domestic hot water demand from May through late September.
